The Leaders in Bariatric Surgery!
Quality Results with The NEW Program at Community Hospital of Long Beach
Find out why our program is the leader for bariatric surgery.
The NEW Program utilizes a multidisciplinary team that includes experts in bariatric medicine, nutrition, exercise, clinical psychology, and laparoscopic surgery, and as a result, our center offers one of the most extensive aftercare programs available.
Patient education seminars, informal peer support groups and one-to-one counseling are available for all patients. Other specialized services include a dedicated Adolescent Bariatric Surgery Program. Our emphasis is not only on performing the safest, minimally invasive surgery, but also on helping our patients to live a healthier lifestyle.
All of our patients receive the best care available, the complete confidentiality of an exclusive and private setting, and the understanding that every patient’s success is a matter of teamwork on the part of the patient and our program staff. Patients typically remain in the hospital only one day and often are able to return to work after one week.
The NEW Program History
Dr. Brian Quebbemann's focus on expertly performed surgery combined with an integrated patient support program led to the development of The NEW Program, the first truly integrated bariatric surgery program in Southern California.
Since opening the laparoscopic bariatric program in 2000, he has completed well over 2000 minimally invasive bariatric procedures and has an amazing track record of excellence in surgical weight loss results with minimal complications.

About Long Beach Community Hospital
Community Hospital of Long Beach (CHLB) was established in 1924 as a non-profit hospital that would provide quality medical care to all who needed it. For 76 years it was known for its quality care and for a warm, friendly community atmosphere. Bought by a corporate healthcare chain, this valuable community healthcare resource was closed in September 2000. It took thousands of concerned citizens and a responsive city government to re-open the hospital. The “Save Our Neighborhood Hospital” group’s successful grassroots efforts resulted in the dramatic re-birth of Community Hospital nine months later in June 2001. Since the reopening, CHLB has experienced a flourishing renewal, a continuation of its trademark of personalized top-quality medical care that its patients have come to trust and treasure.
CHLB has partnered with The N.E.W. Program to become a leading provider of surgical weight loss services. With the expertise of skilled bariatric surgeons, Brian Quebbemann, MD and Justin Braverman, MD, the excellence of our bariatric anesthesiology team, and our specially trained nursing staff, The N.E.W. Program at Community Hospital of Long Beach is one of the premier surgical weight loss programs available to men and women struggling with obesity.
